The BoT met at 7:30 PM on May 1st.

The BoT elected the officers for 2007-2008: Jim Potter as Chair, Lauck Walton as Vice Chair, and Lisa Guide as Secretary. Bill Clontz was elected as Program Council Convener. Jim Potter appointed two former BoT chairs, Joanne Masterson and Kristin Rosenthal, as "ex-officio" members who will act as advisors to the BoT.

Lisa Guide reported on the status of the Interim Minister Search. UUA has sent us the names of five candidates. The Search Committee hopes to winnow those down to two or three for telephone interviews. UUA has set May 10th as the first day for offers for all congregations nationwide. The interim Minister will start in mid-August.

Bill Clontz reported on the status of the Called Minister Search Committee. The BoT discussed possible candidates for the appointed positions on the Committee. A consensus was achieved on a short list. Wendy Burns and Lauck Walton will be contacting the selected candidates.

Wendy Burns presented the list of proposed recipients of Congregational Awards. The list was approved with enthusiasm by the BoT.

Wendy presented a report on Fort Hunt Preschool relations. The Susan B. Anthony Fund has provided 50% of the cost of the design of a "green" playground area to replace the current one. Meagan and the Green Sanctuary Committee will be working with FHP and Fairfax County on the design. Bill Clontz agreed to work with MVUC's attorney, Jamie Babotek, and to send a letter to the Rioux's to attempt to resolve the property-line dispute.

Lauck presented a draft of the Disruptive Behavior Policy. After considerable discussion including the need to balance confidentiality and legal liability, the BoT asked Lauck to discuss the policy with the RE Council and Rev. Speck of JPD. Lauck will send a revised draft via e-mail for approval before the next BoT meeting.

The BoT received the reports of the Business Administrator, DRE, and Music Director. Meagan noted we have roughly 65 youth in RE. The number is stable after several years of fluctuation. Donna noted MVUC was "in the black" for both the month and the year-to-date. She also noted she had been working with Wendy on improvements to the Hollin Hall apartment to make it more attractive to prospective tenants.

The BoT discussed at length priorities and activities for the 2007-2008 year.

The meeting adjourned at 9:45 PM.
