Call to Order:  7:30 p.m. by Ron Brandt

The following decisions were reached by consensus: 

  1. That no exception to the alcohol policy be made for the May 4 Brown wedding.
  2. That Jim McGovern and Betsy Stephens ask Betsy Clagett, Dotty Ann McClelland, and several caterers for their input regarding our alcohol policy, especially concerning hard liquor, and report back to the Board.

 

The following motions passed unanimously:

  1. That the Total Cost of Ministry package for Walter Braman for 2002-03 (attached), as proposed by the Personnel Committee, be accepted.
  2. That the Director of Religious Education Search Committee announce a vacancy and begin a search now, announcing the beginning date as August 2002, but with a later date negotiable.

 

The following motion did not carry.  (Two trustees voted for the motion, seven against.):

  1. That, at the Annual Meeting of the congregation on April 28, five options for the Long Range Plan be presented on a ballot with instructions to indicate an order of preference.  This would be done in lieu of a regular vote.

 

The following motion then passed, eight in favor, one opposed:

  1. Adoption of the “Recommendations for the Congregation” (attached), substituting the word “recommends” for “requests” in the two italicized sentences.

 

The following motions passed unanimously:

  1. Acceptance of the Instrumentalities/Affiliated Organizations Task Force Final Recommendations (attached).
  2. Agreement to present the proposed budget for approval at the Annual Meeting of the congregation (attached).

Sunday, April 28, 5:00 p.m. – Annual Meeting of the congregation, in the Chapel

Sunday, May 5, 10:10 a.m. – Orientation for new Board members, Sun Porch

Tuesday, May 7, 7:30 p.m. – Meeting of new Board, Commons

May 17-18 – Board Retreat, Friday eve at MVUC, Saturday at Arlington Church

Sunday, June 9 – Recognition Sunday

Friday, September 6, 6:00 p.m. – Fall Ingathering Picnic
