The BoT met at 7:30 PM on December 5th.

The minutes for the BoT meeting November 6th were approved.

Joanne reported that a significant number of capital campaign pledges are unpaid. She will be writing a letter to remind members of their pledges.

Jane Nelson reported that the Program Council is reviewing the Social Justice charter. It should be ready for BoT approval at the next BoT meeting.

Joanne noted that the Nominating Committee is operating well with only four members after the departure of Janice Fitzpatrick. The BoT will appoint a replacement member if requested by the committee.

Joanne reported on the progress of the Mission Statement committee. There will be a questionnaire in the January Windmill asking "What do you think is the Mission of MVUC?" A draft of the new Mission Statement may be available by April.

Jim Potter gave an update on the status of compiling historical attendance numbers. There was a change in recording procedures in mid-2002 that resulted in RE and Sunday Service numbers being mixed. The numbers are being recompiled from the original data.

The BoT received reports from Rev. Louis Schwebius, Donna Bledsoe and Meagan Henry.  Rev. Lou noted attendance at "alternative" services (e. g. Thanksgiving Vespers) has been increasing. He also noted that 10 of the 11 new members will be at the December New Member recognition. He has been working with Melodie Feather, the interim Music Director on music for services. Meagan noted preparations for the Holiday Pageant on Dec 17th are going well. She reported she is coordinating an informal Young Adult Group getting together for Sunday lunches and other activities. Donna was attending the Construction Task Force meeting but reported that the chimney for the fireplace in the Commons needs work and cannot be used until repaired. Candles will replace the Holiday wood fires.

Lauck gave a presentation of the work being done by the By-Laws and Policy Committee. The BoT approved the revised policies on personnel and political action. Betsy Yarrison has newly joined the Committee.

The meeting adjourned at 9:25 PM.
