Call to Order: 7:30 p.m. by Ron Brandt
Opening Words: Linda Jemison
The following motions passed unanimously:
1. Authorization of the Advertising & Publicity Committee to spend up to $600 for advertising in the Washington Post. (The committee plans to begin advertising in the fall. Committee members are Donna Anderson; Daria Bergen-Hill; Janice Fitzpatrick; Jim McGovern; Katie Tyson; and Linda Davidson, chair.)
2. Authorization of the Treasurer to pre-pay the July 1 payment of the Veatch loan. (The Veatch loan helped pay for the construction of Remington Chapel. This pre-payment of $6,756 would leave only one payment remaining to retire the debt.)
3. Adoption of the 2002-03 budget proposed by the Finance Committee. (attached)
4. Adoption of the Board of Trustees Goals for 2002-03. (The attached goals were drawn from the Long Range Plan and work done at the annual Board retreat.)
5. Adoption of the following wording for the Wayside Pulpit sign:
Welcome to Mount Vernon Unitarian Church
Neighbors, friends, and visitors are reminded that the church grounds are private property. Please, for health and safety:
*Children must be supervised at all times. Our brick walls, the windmill, and all trees are off limits. Skateboards and scooters not permitted.
*All dogs must be leashed, and owners must pick up after pets. Dogs not allowed near the pre-school area or inside the walled garden.
Future Planning:
Tuesday, July 2, 7:30 p.m. - Board of Trustees meeting, Commons.
Tuesday, Sept. 3, 7:30 p.m. - Board of Trustees meeting, Commons. (BOT meetings are open to all who wish to come.)
Due to travel plans, the Executive Committee will not meet in June.
The Board will determine in July whether to hold an August meeting.
