The BoT met at 7:30 PM on June 6.

The minutes of the last May meeting and the April Congregational Meeting were approved.

Jane Nelson, acting as Program Council Convener introduced the members of the Program Council who gave brief summaries of their areas of responsibility and current work. Giving reports were Meg Clontz (Worship), Bill Alsmeyer-Johnson (Our Larger World), Ron Brandt (Administration and Communication), Eric Pourchot (Property), and Sandy Peterson (Our Home Community).

Bill Alsmeyer-Johnson brought up the date for the Social Justice Congregational Meeting. October 29 conflicts with the UNICEF activities so the date was tentatively set for October 22 following the second service.

The BoT also heard reports from Rev. Lou, Donna Bledsoe, and Barbara Stoddard. The BoT expressed thanks to Barbara for her service to MVUC as interim DRE. Rev. Lou mentioned work being done to create a Northern Virginia Assembly of UU Churches to intertwine more news and activities of the nine congregations in the area. Linda Jemison will be representing MVUC at a planning meeting held on June 11 with the actual inter-church event scheduled to be held on September 30 at the Fairfax UU Church.

Heather Harts'Horn, on behalf of Alvin Macomber (Grounds Chair), gave a "heads-up" on a proposal for the removal of the locust tree at the front entrance to the mansion. Se stated that the tree was a "genuine threat" and needs to be removed ASAP. The cost estimate is $1500. The proposal will go through the Finance committee and then to the BoT.

Joanne emphasized MVUC is facing a possible budget shortfall. There may have to be cutbacks in programs.

Wendy Burns was appointed liaison to the Fort Hunt Preschool. The lease is still being negotiated.

Ann Kaupp was appointed to the UUSJ Board of Trustees for a three year term. Al Robbert and Bill Alsmeyer-Johnson are already serving.

Kelly Jemison reported that the YRUU were working on ideas for activities around the church including raising funds for the Carriage House wall move.

The meeting adjourned at 9:35 PM.
