Fairfax County Victims Assistance Network

The Fairfax County Victims Assistance Network hotline [VAN] is available 24/7 for help if they or a family member or friend has been a victim of sexual assault or domestic violence, i.e., physical or emotional abuse, either in the past or recently. Services include free counseling, support groups, current information about the medical, legal, & psychological aspects of sexual assault and domestic violence, referrals to other resources such as the Women's Shelter, Victims Services personnel in every police station, specific medical treatment at hospitals, help with Safety Planning, educational programs on violence prevention and how to foster healthy relationships.

To ask about volunteering, call Sarah White, Volunteer Coordinator at 703-704-6716. Volunteers go through a 40-hour training and when certified, they can pick their own hours to serve. Course is taught conveniently at the South County Building on Rte. 1.
