OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN ABOUT MVUC

WELCOME TO OUR COMMUNITY
We occasionally offer a series of Saturday morning sessions designed especially for newcomers inquiring about Unitarian Universalism and church life at MVUC, but also open to current members and friends. The sessions are related but independent and need not be taken consecutively. They are offered in the Fall, winter and spring, watch the sign up sheets and announcements in the Weekly Bulletin for exact dates.

Session 1
: INTRODUCTION TO UNITARIAN UNIVERSALISM AND MVUC
Rev. Kate R. Walker and lay leaders
Come learn about our unique approach to theology, our pluralistic religious practices, our respect for each other's personal religious beliefs, and our history as leaders of social action in Europe and the U.S.  Meet lay leaders, learn about our governance, and take a tour of the grounds.  Information from Rev. Kate Walker, 703-765-5950 x 104, minister@mvuc.org.

Session 2: WALKING THE WALK OF SOCIAL JUSTICE AT MVUC
Georgia Pourchot, Moderator
The social justice work of MVUC earned us a national award, green sanctuary certification, and wildlife sanctuary status in 2008. Participants in this workshop will learn about current activities and opportunities for involvement  Hear how we support  our partner churches in Romania and India, work to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” promote women’s reproductive rights, donate blood, feed the homeless, and more. Find out how you can join in walking the walk of our UU faith. Georgia Pourchot, gpourchot@yahoo.com. Other ways to learn about MVUC:
