2008-2009 Rentals Available

You are cordially invited to preview our unique and elegant wedding and reception settings. Be our guest as you learn about our historic house and beautiful grounds that offer a site you will always remember as the perfect setting for your wedding celebration.

Hollin Hall, 1909 Windmill Lane, Alexandria, Virginia

Mount Vernon Unitarian Church sits on seven beautifully landscaped acres just four miles south of Old Town Alexandria. We offer two lovely indoor reception sites, Hollin Hall and the Meeting House, and a picturesque walled garden all of which can accommodate a variety of special occasions from small parties to large wedding receptions.

The site of our grounds, the highest point in southern Fairfax County, was once part of a 2,000-acre plantation owned by Revolutionary War patriot George Mason. George Mason's son, Thomson Mason, built the original Hollin Hall home which burned in 1824. In 1916, industrialist Harley Wilson built an elegant new Hollin Hall. Many prominent Americans, including Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, and Carl Sandburg, visited the home and its brick-walled gardens.

Hollin Hall Terrace

Hollin Hall, a gracious Georgian manor house surrounded by 175 year-old boxwood gardens, offers a unique setting for weddings, receptions, parties and rehearsal dinners. Hollin Hall features four separate rooms, a formal entry hall, and modern kitchen. Your event can spread out onto the lovely wisteria-arbored terrace in the back of Hollin Hall next to our boxwood maze. Hollin Hall is an historic property that is listed on the Fairfax County Inventory of Historic Sites and can accommodate 140 people standing or 90 people seated.

Meeting House Ceremony Set-up

A beautiful curved brick wall surrounds our romantic, 3-tiered boxwood garden that is the perfect site for weddings. Photographic opportunities abound in the garden and throughout our grounds. The boxwood garden is rented in combination with the chapel to insure a beautiful event in case of inclement weather.

Meeting House Reception

The Meeting House is a spacious, contemporary site for larger weddings and receptions. With clean, simple lines, warm hardwood floors and a soaring ceiling, this is a wonderful reception location for dining, music and dancing. The Meeting House can accommodate 225 people standing or 150 people seated. A lovely slate terrace, adjoining the Meeting House and facing the walled boxwood garden, provides an outdoor space for up to 150 people.

Renters may select an excellent caterer from our preferred caterer list all of whom aim to suit your tastes and requirements. From a garden party to an elegant seated dinner, they are ready to make your event a delicious success. Additionally, an event monitor will be on hand to insure your event runs smoothly. Alcohol may be served in moderation and in compliance with the ABC laws of Virginia.
